Old to New with XYRON!

Hello all....today I'm posting a Xyron DT project....this month's challenge was to take an old project from the Xyron project gallery and create an updated version....so I selected this paper mache house luminary....

Old paper mache house

and I updated it for a Christmas theme...

Christmas Luminary

To create:

  1. Trace the walls of the house onto the backside of your favorite holiday themed patterned paper. Cut out.

  2. Trace the roof gables onto the back side of a matching pattern. Cut out.

  3. Paint the roof, the base and the edges of the paper mache house white. The roof may need 2 coats for full coverage. Let dry.

  4. Paint a thin layer of liquid adhesive on the roof and the base. While still wet, sprinkle with white glitter and shake off excess. Let dry and then spray with a sealer. You can skip the sealer step if the finished item will not be handled too much.

  5. Run the papers cut in #1 through the Xyron Creative Station. Adhere to the house form. Sand the edges, if desired to get the perfect fit.

  6. Cut the acetate sheet into pieces slightly smaller than the sides of the house (only sides with doors/windows). Run through the Xyron Creative Station.

  7. Adhere the acetate to the inside wall of the house with the adhesive facing outwards. Spread yellow glitter on the adhesive showing through the windows and door. Shake off excess.

  8. Embellish with the stickers from the Sticker sheet. Use pop dots (if desired) to layer the stickers and/or add dimension.

  9. Finish the seam between the roof and base by adhering some eyelash trim (or other trim) to the roof piece.

  10. Finish the base using glitter glue.

  11. Use a flameless tealight (or 2) to safely illuminate the luminary.

Here's another Winter themed house I created using the same technique....

and a Halloween themed one...BOOO!
