Spellbinders Spring Blog Hop and Giveaway Day 6

I’m so excited to be participating in my FIRST Spellbinders™  Blog Hop and Giveaway! Great tools make crafting fast and easy and the Spellbinders™ Grand Calibur® Machine and Spellbinders™ Die Templates make scrapbooking a snap! For this color blocked page featuring beautiful blossoms I used the Spellbinders™ Shapeabilities® S5-105 Floral Tags and applied a few techniques.

Supply List:
Spellbinders™ Paper Arts Supplies:
Spellbinders™ Grand Calibur® Machine
S5-105 Floral Tags
E8-001 Classic Scallop

Cross Promotional Partners:

Xyron Adhesive
Elmer’s 3D foam tape
Bazzill Basics Cardstock
Core'dinations ColorCore Cardstock
ClearSnap ColorBox Ink
Others: Ultrafine Clear Embossing Powder, Embossing Ink, Heat tool, Spray Mist, Brown Journalling pen, corrugated alphabet letters and patterned paper.

Instructions:

To start, I arranged both flowers, the leaves and the plain tag dies on the base plate facing cut side up, leaving space between the rows of dies.

I cut/tore patterned paper and green Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock and arranged on top of the dies.

Cut and emboss. Remove the leaves and the plain tags from the dies. Leave the remaining die cuts in their dies.

Orange Flower Technique:
Apply embossing ink through the die, using it as a stencil. Remove from die and cover with embossing powder. Tap to remove the excess powder and set with the heat tool. Apply Clearsnap fluid chalk ink in peach to the embossed flower. Remove the excess ink from the embossed areas with a damp rag. The embossed area will act as a resist. Set the flower aside.

All Other Flowers Technique:
Select a Clearsnap fluid chalk ink in a color in the same color family as the patterned paper (or use embossing ink if you just want to add some gloss but no color to your design). Apply the ink through the die, using it as a stencil.
Remove die cut from die and add Ultrafine embossing powder. Remove excess and set with heat tool.

Leaf Technique:
Sand the embossed areas and edges of leaves.
Select a Clearsnap fluid chalk ink similar to the color of the paper and ink the sanded areas.

Banner Technique:
Score 5 plain tags in the middle widthwise.
Run through a Xyron adhesive machine.
Fold tags on the score line over a piece of baker’s twine

Crop 2 photos to 3.5 x 3.5 inches. Adhere to a 4 x 12 piece of patterned paper, leaving a 3 inch space between the photos (for the plain photo tags).
Arrange photo strip and plain paper tags as per the project photo and adhere.
Add the banner and floral elements with Elmers 3D foam tape for added dimension.
Fluff the floral elements.
Embellish by adding the title (mist first to add color) and the Classic Scallops die cuts (the top cut is trimmed in length). Add the journaling and accent lines to the design with the brown journaling pen.

And THAT’s it! All that technique and it still took me less than 60 minutes to assemble this page! LOVE THAT!

Some Cards...REALLY!

I was feeling inspired to be crafy over the weekend, but found I was way SHORT on time...so, in order to get my paper fix I created a couple of cards...the first features the Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia die and Teresa Collins Christmas Home papers...I used my fabbie Xyron Adhesive to assemble the card, attach some crinkled tissue paper to the red cardstock and add glitter to the foam alphabet stickers!

Xyron joy card

I got a little 'techniquey' on this next card...surprisingly it took very little time...I got out my Basic Grey Indie Bloom papers and Allison Davis card sketch #11, stamped a heart in a circle image over top and embossed with clear embossing powder....after heat setting the embossing powder, I 'painted' over the embossed images with my Maya Road mist and wiped the excess off...the clear embossing powder acts as a resist and lets the wonderfully colored patterned paper show through! I punched out the images with a circle punch, mounted them on a second larger white circle that had already been run through my Xyron X sticker maker and then coated the white border with white glitter...love the effect!

You're so special card

That's it for today...thanks for stopping by...

A page that tells a story...

My grandma passed away in late October and even though I have a lot of 'Great Grandma P" stories documented for my children, there is one I forgot...so I took wrote it down on a layout at a crop a few weeks ago....here's the layout:

Childhood memory

Journalling Reads: 18 years ago when Grandpa passed away, my aunt started giving my Grandma teddy bears to keep her 'company'. When Grandma passed this year, my daughter, her great granddaughter received one of her 'bears' to remember her by. What a great memory for me to share with my daughter! Oct 2011

So happy I got to document this 'Grandma moment' and that my daughter got a bear to remember her great grandma by!

I have an alcohol problem...

an Alcohol INK problem that is!!!

I recently altered a cigar box using Teresa Collin's new Halloween line Haunted Hallows and my collection of Ranger Alcohol Inks...LOVE this stuff!

I'm thinking it will hold candy on my desk at work when the big day gets close...

Tc dangerous box detail1

I used some Tim Holtz box legs on the bottom corners....they're altered with black paint, orange alcohol ink and some rock candy crackle medium...love how spooky they turned out!

Tc dangerous box

Then there's the paper doily I dry brushed with some more black paint and then applied orange alcohol ink to the white spaces....the bottle cap was filled first with glossy accents mixed with purple alcohol ink, then the witchy silhouette was added....after it dried overnight, I applied more glossy accents (without any alcohol ink added) to give the whole item a clear, glossy finish...

Tc dangerous box detail2

I made a orange tulle flowerette and accented the top with some Maya Road raspberry beads (colored with MORE alcohol ink, black this time.)

Here's another view of the finished piece...of course all the papers got stuck down with my handy, dandy, no mess Xyron adhesive!

Tc dangerous box detail3

This project got my mojo flowing! I've been a CREATING machine since this one got done! LOVE THAT!

Toodles all, thanks for checking in!

The Baby Album is FINISHED!!

Amazingly, the baby album I'm making for my chiropracter is FINISHED!! I was lucky enough to get away on Friday night and crop with Amy from the Scrapbooking Studio and Shelly from Sweetooth Scrapbooking.

I started the evening by sortings and cleaning up my alphabet letter stickers....the mess had been bothering me for a while, but it's tough to sort with little hands around!! Then I went about finishing the baby album that I had started last week (see the cover HERE). I used (mostly) Teresa Collins Chic Baby Girl and Posh papers and embellishments....love the bright pink, light pink and black color combo!!

Here's the inside cover and the first page...all the photo mats are black...the larger ones will hold a 4x6 picture and the smaller squares will hold a 2.75 x 2.75 inch picture...since the recipient is a non-scrapper, I tried to keep the photo requirements consistent and uncomplicated.

Tc baby album page 1 2

The inside pages...

Tc baby album page 3 4

Tc baby album page 5 6

On the right hand page above...I covered the 'remember' on the posh die cut with the word 'beautiful' from the same die cut sheet...

Tc baby album page 7 8

Tc baby album page 9 10

and since mom has a twin sister (I can't even tell them apart!), there's an auntie page in the album!

Tc baby album page 11 12

Here's the last page and the inside back cover...it was close to 1 AM when this got done, I'm thinking I'll have to realign that title as a result!!

Tc baby album page 13 14

So glad that this project is finished...I'm going to wrap it up in dark pink tissue paper and tie it witht the rest of the satin ribbon! Can't wait to give it away!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

What I'm working on now...

I'm making a mini album for my chiropractor...she's having a baby girl in  a few months and has always exclaimed (positively) about my scrapbooking, so I'd thought I'd put one together for her...I'm using  mostly the Teresa Collins  Chic Baby Girl papers and mixing in some Posh (I love the dark pink/light pink combo I've got going!!) The large pleated trim is from Maya Road...also a current FAVE!

Here's the cover...

Baby girl coverl

and a close up shot...

I'm hoping to share some of the inside pages as I get them completed (even though they won't have pictures)...so here's to hoping I get this one done before the baby gets here!!

Toodles, thanks for stopping by!

Got Soccer? layout and some kiddo pics...

As a new spring soccer season starts, I finally scrapped a page about my daughter's 2010 fall soccer season (though the word season implies she played a series of games, that really never happened!).

  Tc sports II layout

The border detail...some rounded rectangles and punched circles....and a die cut on pop dots!

Tc sports II border detail

The title detail...I cut a star out of the transparency sheet, ran it through my Xyron X and layered on top of the varsity letters from American Crafts...the smaller varisity letters are from Reminisce...

Tc sports II title detail

The patterned paper is all Teresa Collins Sports Edition II...

Maia went to a birthday party today...a PRINCESS PARTY...she was very excited...and got all dressed up for it...

And here she is with her PRINCESS accessories:

Devon got to go too (they have an older son his age)...but he was way more low key about the whole thing...(and glad he didn't have to wear a dress!)

That was our Saturday...toodles all...thanks for stopping by!

A card to share...

Here's a card that I made recently...it just 'came together' from scraps on my desk and an Allison Davis Card Sketch...I created the rings of white by double punching some circles and using them as masks on white cardstock, which I then misted with my Tattered Angels Chalkboard mist...a little Teresa Collins "Celebrate" love, (I mean paper and chipboard!), some Doodlebug black gems and I'm done....now who do I know having a birthday???

Card

Toodles...thanks for stopping by!

November 04, 2010

Another Teresa Collins layout....

I created another Teresa Collins layout...this one features the CELEBRATE line--it too is LOADED with color....some blue, some red, some orange, some kraft....love it all!! So here's my first (of many, I'm sure) layout about my daughter's 3rd birthday...love this pic...

Tc celebrate 3 layout

Other supplies include an American Crafts chipboard number, EK Success large scallop border punch, Bazzill cardstock, Basic Grey small alphas and my handy dandy Xyron adhesive machines!!
